Homepage update

I have updated my webpage taivo.net — I added a downloadable stopwatch application that I recently created (TL MiniTime, tested to work on Mac OS X and Windows, and should also work on Linux), added a list of my publications, added a list of events I have attended, added links to some of my social networking sites, removed photo galleries (I now post my photos mainly to social networking sites) and made various other updates.

I also moved the site from my university server to a commercial provider GigaPros. Among other things this means that the address taivo.net now stays taivo.net in the address bar during surfing the site, instead of being just a redirect to www.dcc.ttu.ee/taivo. As of the latter address, it is still functional and currently displays the previous version of the site. I'll probably just put a sign there that tells people to go to taivo.net.

Partial homepage content update

I made some content changes on my webpage http://taivo.net. The main changes were: making the site English only (was both English and Estonian before), totally rewriting the "Who am I" section, adding a section "Scientific Interests", and removing sections "PhD Topic" and "Works III".

My plan has been to do a more thorough update of the site, but it hasn't been my top priority so far and has thus been on hold. But now I felt that I should quickly update at least some of it, so that's what I did -- a quick partial update of the most important content that will hopefully be followed in the near future by updating the rest of the site, too.

New poster presentations

Two new posters about my PhD project are available in my homepage's subsection "PhD Topic".

One of them I used a little bit in Imperial College London's Summer School in Complexity Science in Wye, Kent, UK, and more in 20th International Summer School / Conference in Nonlinear Science and Complexity in Patras, Greece.

And the other, newer poster is for the 6th Estonian Summer School in Computer and Systems Science.

However, they are still "calls for suggestions", NOT presentations of my results... I plan to start getting original soon, though :-)

Webpage fix: old galleries

I just noticed that my old photo galleries have not been available since Nov 2006 because the free server account they were on was closed. So now I just put those galleries to the same server where the web page is. Also, there was a dead link under CSSS2004 gallery section, and I removed the link.

Poster presentation for EWSCS'07

This week I participated in 12th Estonian Winter School in Computer Science, which was a pleasant and well organized event in a nice location. Not all lectures were equally interesting for me, of course, but I had foresightedly taken some reading with me to avoid wasting time :) But some of the lectures WERE interesting for me, too (e.g. membrane computing by Gheorghe Păun, digital watermarking by Ingemar J. Cox, and Arvind's lectures about hardware synthesis), and anyway, such schools are not only about listening lectures, but also getting new contacts and having discussions and just having fun :)

I also made a poster presentation for EWSCS'07, which is now downloadable from my homepage's subsection PhD Topic (in the end of the page).

Homepage update

From now on, I will notice about my homepage updates here in the blog instead of on the homepage itself.

The latest update:

  • Added an old unpublished overview paper of MyANN project to the MyANN page.
  • Added section "PhD Topic".
  • Added link to this blog.
  • Moved homepage update news to this blog. The old news are:

November 2006: Photo gallery Euro'06.

September 2006: I moved my bookmarks from Jots to del.icio.us and made corresponding changes on "Links" page, including the addition of Tag Cloud (I left Jots because it has developed several problems: advertisements, noticeable downtime, problems with API, long page load time,...). Some updates on page "Who am I?". From page "Links" removed YouSendIt (not so good service anymore, there are better ones now available).

January 2006: ECAL'05 photo gallery.

December 2005: "Site Info" and "Links" ready.

Autumn 2005: most of the new site up and running.
